La triste nouvelle est tombée, Winnie Mandela, l’ex-épouse de Nelson Mandela est décédée ce lundi 2 avril à l’âge de 81 ans.

Nomzamo Winifred Zanyiwe Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, plus connue sous le nom de Winnie Mandela, est une femme politique sud-africaine, membre et militante de l’ANC, née le 26 septembre 1936 et morte le 2 avril 2018.

C’est son entourage qui a rendu l’information publique : “C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous informons le public que Mme Winnie Madikizela Mandela est décédée à l’hôpital Milkpark de Johannesburg lundi 2 avril”, a déclaré son porte-parole Victor Dlamini dans un communiqué.

Cette militante de la lutte anti-apartheid avait épousé Nelson Mandela en 1958. Ils s’étaient séparés en 1992, deux ans après la sortie de prison de son mari qui allait devenir plus tard le premier Président noir de l’Afrique du Sud. Winnie Mandela était une femme politique très engagée, elle était la seconde épouse de Nelson avec qui elle militait au sein de l’ANC. Leur couple a été le symbole de la lutte anti apartheid, jusqu’à leur divorce.
